To vape or not to vape?

So you have made the wise decision to use Cannabis as medicine. Congratulations!
Now there is the overwhelming question of how to medicate. The quickest method for any drug delivery is via inhalation, but smoking is not healthy, even smoking cannabis. Vaping is a much healthier method with the added benefit of near-instant relief and the ability to quickly judge your comfort level, as compared to edibles which take a longer time to take effect.
There are multitudes of companies that offer different vape cartridges with different blends of medicine inside. This is due to our free-market economy and a burgeoning Cannabis market in its infancy. At AZCS we have decided to focus on a small handful of manufacturers with a reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. We proudly carry K.I.N.D, MüV, O-Pen, and (CBD only) Weedless.
The two main factors in a cannabis vape cartridge are the EXTRACTION METHOD of obtaining the medicine, and the CARRYING AGENT used to dilute the oil to the proper consistency.
Extraction methods include SFE CO2 (Supercritical Fluid Carbon Dioxide Extraction), Ethanol extraction, Butane extraction followed by fractional distillation, and using 99.9% pure CBD isolate
The extraction method will add or remove flavors to the final product, which is why some manufacturers add natural terpenes to flavor AND to decrease the viscosity of the liquid being vaporized.
The carrying agent or thinner is added to make the product vaporize easily. The most common carrying agent is PEG or Polyethylene Glycol, used in vapes of all kinds. Another brand adds natural terpenes (from Cannabis and from other natural plant sources) to thin and FLAVOR their product. And some will blend PEG and Vegetable Glycerine (VG) with their product to give it their desired viscosity. The premium cartridges are 100% cannabis oil with nothing else added. Usually a stronger battery is needed for the premium cartridges; ask your budtender to make sure you have the proper equipment.
Keep in mind the Cannabis vaporizer market is in its infancy and technological innovations are continually happening to re-invent the simple disposable vape cartridge. Examples are the style of wick used to carry the medicine to the atomizer, the design of ceramic vs. metal atomizers, and even differences in batteries. Nearly every vape cartridge manufacturer is always making subtle changes to their product in order to maximize the customer’s experience. If you are not satisfied with one brand, switch and try another! There are more than enough manufacturers to meet everyone’s individual needs.
COMMON SENSE THINGS WE OFTEN FORGET: Your vape cartridge is not indestructible! It must be stored properly in order to work properly. NEVER NEVER NEVER keep it in your car or the cartridge will leak, ESPECIALLY in Arizona. Store your cartridge upright whenever possible so the oil will keep the reservoir or wick saturated, ready for action when you are. Keep an extra battery or a spare charger with you if don’t charge it regularly to avoid disappointment.
Other healthier ways to medicate:
- Hashishans Cannacaps
- Transdermal Patches
- Suppositories
- Inhalers
- Edibles
- Tinctures
- Medicated lotions
